Project Overview

Memphis struggles with consistently high violent crime and homicide rates, including a large proportion of cases involving a firearm. The Memphis Police Department has attempted to address this problem with gunshot detection technology, but has had issues with false alerts. The Memphis Police Department plans to implement a new gunshot detection software, ShotSpotter, and test its efficacy. They also plan to utilize the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) to develop further links that may aid investigation.
